Pepelu: "We're happy with the wins and we're laying down the foundations for the season"

Valencia CF beat St. Gallen 1879 by a 1-3 scoreline in their third preseason test of the 2023-2024 preseason training camp. Pepelu formed the midfield pairing alongside Javi Guerra and Pepelu got involved in two of the three Valencia CF goals. The brand-new player spoke in post-match.  

"We've been doing a good job since the start of preseason, laying down the foundations. We're picking up the pace for the coming season in August. I took a small knock to the tibia, but it's nothing serious. In preseason your minutes are set out for you. It's nothing serious. We're compatible and have got on since day one.  You can see that on the pitch. I hope that we offer a good solution for the coach.

He told me to be myself and to show personality, both in terms of bringing the ball out and defending. He also told me to show character to send balls to those up front and maintain balance.

I've always said that I'm very comfortable. I think that we've seen this from the start. In the end, we need to be brave. We need to push as much as possible up top, and we're not a team who want to be stuck in our own half. We'll see if sending the ball upfield allows us to have a lot of chances on goal".
